How to: Change a graph legend.
Solution:
Select the graph and select 'Chart Object' from 'Edit' menu. Select 'Edit' from the 'Chart Object' menu and select the legend.
1) Select (single-click) the desired graph object. (Handles appear around the border.)
2) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Chart Object' . (A submenu appears.)
3) Select 'Edit' from the 'Chart Object' submenu. (The graph application window appears with the menus and toolbar tools active.)
4) Select the legend. (Handles appear around the border.)
5) Select the 'Format' menu and select 'Selected Legend...'. (The Format Legend dialog box appears.)
6) Do one or more of the following to format the legend:
a) Change the legend border and fill settings:
1] Click the 'Patterns' tab.

2] Do one or more of the following to change the legend border.

a] Select the 'Automatic' radio button in the 'Border' group.
b] Select the 'None' radio button in the 'Border' group.
c] Select the 'Custom' radio button in the 'Border' group.
1} Select the desired border style from the 'Style' drop-down list box.
2} Select the desired border color from the 'Color' drop-down color palette.
3} Select the desired border thickness from the 'Weight' drop-down list box.
d] Select the 'Shadow' check box in the 'Border' group.
3] Do one or more of the following to change the legend area:

a] Select the 'Automatic' radio button in the 'Area' group.
b] Select the 'None' radio button in the 'Area' group.
c] Select the desired color from the 'Color' box in the 'Area' group.
d] Select the desired area pattern from the 'Pattern' drop-down list box in the 'Area' group.
NOTE: Changes display in the 'Sample' box at the bottom right corner of the screen.

b) Change the legend font:
1] Click the 'Font' tab.

2] (Optional) Do one or more of the following:
a] Select a font from the 'Font' list box.
b] Select a font size from the 'Size' list box.
c] Select a font style (i.e., bold, regular, italic, etc.) from the 'Font Style' list box.
d] Select a font color from the 'Color' drop down-color palette.
e] Select a background for the font (i.e., Automatic, Transparent or Opaque) from the 'Background' drop-down list box.
f] Select an underline for the font from the 'Underline' drop down list box.
g] Select the desired check box in the 'Effects' group, to use a subscript, superscript or strikethrough legend font.
NOTE: Changes display in the 'Preview' box at the bottom right corner of the screen.

c) Change the legend position:
1] Click the 'Placement' tab.

2] Select a radio button for the legend location from the 'Type' group.
EXAMPLE: The location of the legend is in relation to the graph. For example, 'Top' is above the graph, and 'Left' is to the left of the graph.
7) Click 'OK'
